2022 Preview

Well that's Christmas and New Year done for another year - decorations taken down today and the house thoroughly cleaned earning me a little 'me' time this afternoon.

Spoiler alert: This will not be the most thrilling blog entry I'm ever going to make.

I'm aware that I've bounced from project to project last year (and to be honest I'll probably do a bit of that this year) however there are tasks that actually will have deadlines in 2022.

So this post is my initial brain dump of things I will be working on this year along with any drivers and timelines.

WW2 15mm Buildings - Deadline 20th January

You would have seen these in my last blog - task this month is to get them painted ready for a Rapid Fire game with Mr. Burt towards the end of January - in theory these will be completed in the next couple of weeks.

18th Century Infantry Brigade - Deadline End of April

I was persuaded by my good friend Mr. Burt to attend the Ayton games weekend arranged by members of the Loose Association of Wargamers this year. From my understanding it's going to be a big 18th Century game with very simple rules. I felt obliged (a decision I think I'm going to regret) to commit to putting together a battalion of infantry for the game - it is a long time since I've painted any large unit of troops, and certainly not anything historical, so this appears early on the list as I want to get an early start on them.

Ruined Fantasy Town

Mrs. P was stuck for ideas as to what to buy me for Christmas and so I suggested she maybe randomly choose a couple of buildings from TTCombats Fantasy Grounds ranges as my Mordheim scenery had got pretty much destroyed in the move to our current home. I think she got a little bit carried away (not that I'm complaining).....

Although I have no planned games that require this scenery I think from an internal politics stand point I shouldn't leave getting these done too late. These will be used for games of Frostgrave, Mordheim, Badgers and Burrow , The Silver Bayonet and maybe even Sharpes Practice.

Wild West Town Additions

Mrs. P brought me tickets for a show last year which we were due to see over the Christmas period, sadly the show was postponed at the last minute to a date that we couldn't attend. Mrs. P got a refund for tickets and told me to use it to get some 'game stuff' and so I placed an order for some bits and pieces to supplement the Wild West Town she had funded on a previous birthday - so I have a couple of buildings, a stage coach and a gallows to put together, again no driver except to show Mrs. P what she has funded this year.

WW2 Japanese

You will have seen from previous blogs that I have painted several infantry units for a Japanese Bolt Action force, and so it's only logical and prudent to finish the rest especially as Bolt Action is played locally.

Necromunda Scenery

My daughter brought me a couple of bits of Sci-fi Scenery for Christmas - no urgent driver to get these done except to show her the finished product. I intend to use these for Necromunda, Stargrave, Judge Dredd, Marvel Crisis and 40K (if I can bring myself to play that going again forward).

20mm Ancient Greeks

Mr. Burt and I agreed to work on a 20mm Ancient game, and he persuaded me to do this in 20mm. I now have a large box of figures to work through and I do actually want to get a couple of stands done early in the year to work out the best approach for painting the army. We'll have to agree a sensible target completion time when we next meet.

I'm hosting a game in June, the exact nature of which has yet to be decided and I think will be influenced by how quickly I get the Ayton stuff done.

My other hope for 2022 is that I'll be able to play more games - and if this comes to fruition then that may impact the priority list.

The Bunker will also get a bit of TLC early in the year as I intend to add more insulation etc. to make it an even more inviting venue.

Well that's the end of my brain dump - congratulations if you made it to this paragraph - hope you have a prosperous and splendid year!!
