It dawned on me earlier this week that it has been quite quiet on my blog recently and so here I am breaking the silence.
In March I probably spent more time playing games than working on churning 'stuff' out which is not necessarily a bad thing. As always though I failed to take many pictures of the games in progress and so here is what I do have....
March started with a game of Stargrave, the third scenario in the Quarantine 37 campaign - 'Power Conduit' and all I can share is the initial terrain set up.
There was a follow up scenario played later in the month but sadly no photos were taken.
Border Reivers also got a couple of sessions gaming in and all I got from that are these two.
And if that wasn't bad enough, I spent a whole day gaming in Newark mid-March and played a couple of very enjoyable 18th Century games with only to these to show for it...
We (Local Tim and I) started the next string of Stargrave scenarios centering around 'bugs' this month and here is the paltry selection of pictures from that game.
In terms of hobby production the only driver I have had, other than the Greeks seen in earlier blogs, was to prepare for a game or two of 1:48 Tactic that will take place when Tim Halls joins Mr. Burt and I in the Bunker in May.
I already had American Airborne figures complete and so had to put together an opposing force, in this case late German Infantry (26th Volksgrenadier).
I took the effort to paint quite a few of them in camouflaged smocks only to finish the figures with a wash which pretty much hid all of the uniform and equipment detail but I'm going to live with it.
The figures are by Baueda, and although I like some of the posses I cannot say I'm a huge fan of them, for me they lack crisp detail (which makes painting them a challenge) and most of the weapons look a little on the small size.
What I've also painted where a number of terrain pieces for the game, again made by Baueda - these I like, especially the crashed Kubelwagon which took an age to paint because of all the detail they have put on the piece.
Finally I enjoyed several games of Star Trek: Away Missions with Stephen recently, enough to buy my own away team (which was bound to happen - me being a closet Trekker). The figures are more caricatures of characters from the TV show, rather than a true to life sculpt, then again they are technically just playing pieces on a board game.
Hopefully not such a large gap between this and the next blog entry and I'll try to remember to take more pictures of games in progress especially if they're on the pretty side.
Live Long and Prosper!
You've been busy, Mr P.
Hmmmmm. Stargrave........never played it, even though I have the rules. Possibly a game for the future?
You're output, as always, astonishes me.
