A little while since my last entry with various things happening in the real world and stupidly high temperatures keeping me away from the Bunker, but some things have been slowly happening.
Annoyingly I've lost my painting mojo and so the 18th Century Infantry regiment I intended to show off this time have only received a couple of base colours - so you won't be seeing them until a little later in the month.
What I have managed to do is start the construction of scenery for contemporary gaming - and here you should probably read Superhero gaming.
Firstly we have The Lexington Building - an office block from the TTC City Streets range. A fairly substantial piece of real estate which was quite easy to assemble.
Next we have 'Apartment B' from the same range, again a relatively straightforward model to assemble, however I found it quite strange that it has been designed so that the first floor cannot be removed to get access to the ground floor space.
I also purchased an optional skylight roof kit for the same model, this is an easy build and comes complete with transparent plastic windows which I thought was nice though a little odd given that all other windows for the sets are just voids.
Moving on we get to our first commercial property - officially the Comic Shop but it has an optional facia to be for other brands of Geeks i.e. me.
And because one appears in lots of different superhero films I decided to get a construction crane, and what a big beast it is (apartment added to picture for comparison).
It was also a beast to assemble, not because it was overly complex but rather because the pieces had not been fully cut and so I spent more time removing pieces from the MDF sheets than I did building the kit - in hindsight I should have sent the kit back a got a replacement.
And just to add to the annoyance I noticed a small assembly error why prepping it for the picture.....
Oops.... (BTW did you get the 'joke' of the company name?)
And to round all of that off I bought some vehicles for the bigger superheroes to throw around.
Now 'all' that needs to be done is for me to seal these and get them painted to a reasonable level, you will see the outcome of that in the coming months (notice the managing of expectations there).
There will be no Bunker time for the rest of this week and probably all of the next so the next blog date may be a little way off, until then goodbye and be careful out there!!
I'm being so careful out here that I'm not risking picking up one of them there dangerous paint brush things!
Rather impressive MDF stuff you've got there. I don't see that crane staying upright for very long.
And get that 18thC unit done.
