Okay so the header is actually a little fib, this is the second game of the year but the first one I've remembered to take pictures off.
I visited my friend Mr. Burt last weekend for a day long game of Rapid Fire WW2 15mm and a couple of nights of drinking, and what a splendid weekend it was.
Iain set up a lovely looking table for the game, the pictures below were taken before units were deployed..
The buildings are from my 15mm MDF collection, the rest of the terrain was supplied by Iain and pretty much all of it was scratch built by himself.
The game overall was fun and once in full swing became reasonably quick if a bit over reliant on luck. We both feel there is opportunity for some tweaks to be made to the ruleset make a slightly better gaming experience and clarify a few things so that's something I'll have a play with before we next play.
And now some images of the game itself....
Stug III's advance down the road ahead of their main force.
Panzer IV's approaching a hamlet to support the mobile infantry about to take over the buildings.
The pink beach ball on the Panther in the above is to remind us that it is damaged.
Tanks of the 4th County of London Yeomanry see off the platoon of Stug III's.
A German Heavy Company moves to secure this village before the British turn up.
Troops of the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade move to secure buildings of this French village only to discover a couple of German MMG's were lying in wait for them.
Tanks eyes view of a couple of Cromwell's waiting for the Panther to break cover. ultimately these broke cover first to attempt to attack the weaker side armour of the German tank.
