Let's ignore the title for now and start my witterings in chronological order.
Last weekend I actually managed to play and run a game at the local clubs random monthly weekend meeting, the game in question was Legends of the Old West originally published by Warhammer Historicals.
It's a fun, reasonably simple, set of rules that are geared for campaign play, an element we did not use for the games played as these were more tutorials for new players. All that played enjoyed themselves and we easily managed to get three games in the time allowed. It does mean in the next few weeks I'll probably be painting my outstanding western lead/plastic/mdf pile (and repairing the church tower).
This week I've managed to get two full days in the Bunker, but I'm not expecting any more time in there which is why I'm typing the blog tonight.
The bases for the 18th Century stuff didn't arrive until yesterday afternoon and so there was no progress on the infantry, however I did assemble a mounted commander and an artillery piece and crew - these will be painted and based by the end of next week (as will the infantry) - pictures when they are complete.
So with no work on the 18th century stuff what did I do..?
My priority became the painting up of the sci-fi scenery you would have seen me assemble in previous posts and I managed to finish them...
The approach I took with these was to spray everything with an Army Painter Grey primer, and then colour blocks with acrylics and in some cases with Sharpie pens, and then once everything was coloured I sprayed it all with a weathering spray to tone them down. The only problem I had is that in some cases the primed surfaces refused to accept certain paint/shades and so I could always use the colour I intended. I did manage to turn this to my advantage at one point; if you look at the legs of the two large square structures you'll see that the rusting texture paint did not cover well, however I think the patchy look works quite well.
Here are the buildings in an assembled state:
And now merged with the other set of MDS sci-fi scenery:
And now, just because I could, with some figures running over it (if you're interested the nearer are the new Van Saar figures, the further the original House Cawdor figures both for Necromunda by Games Workshop)..
As an aside it was interesting for me when putting these figures out how my painting style has changed over the years, the Cawdor figures being bright with little shading, whilst the Van Saar are certainly a lot darker.
If you're thinking that the terrains looks very open then you would be right. I spent today painting all of the barricades/walls for both sets along with some ladders.
And here's how they work
And finally, and to explain todays title, I completed another two Marvel figures, Baron Zemo and the Hulk (I wonder who would win that fight..?)
Having seen Hulk in this photo I wonder if I should invest in some filler to see if I can hide joins going forward, or not bother and just play with the figures several feet away.
That's it for this month - spoilers for next month in the witterings above, until then have a better one!!
I wish you'd slow down! You're putting my output to shame.
And I very much look forward to you insisting that we play a Hulk game.
