I have Hives!

When I say I have hives I mean 'under-hives' (the 40K universe term for the lower levels of Imperial cities) rather than the medical condition.

This week I took a break from painting the 18th Century stuff that I should be focusing on and decided to do something a little different.

The first task I set myself was colouring the sci-fi scenery I had built over the previous couple of weeks. I decided to paint using my standard Citadel acrylics rather than using contrasts or the cheaper acrylic paint from tubes as my current collection contained what I felt were appropriate colours. It took a lot longer than I thought it would as I opted to avoid a uniform colour scheme and to colour more of etched patterns on each piece than I originally intended.

Here are the main pieces post colouring and weathering (which was needed to bring down some of the brighter colours), photo does not really do them justice.

However they look a lot better when you assemble then to make some gaming scenery, here are some shots of me trying out some shapes and combinations..

What I next need to finish on this set are the barricades/walls that you can clip onto the sides of these terrain pieces to give cover. I've also ordered a gaming mat that will complement this scenery, and will be on the lookout for some appropriate scatter terrain.

Whilst waiting for paint to dry I started assembly of the second set of sci-fi terrain my little princess had brought for me.

They say that simple things amuse simple minds...

Well it amused me, but then I'm a simple man :-) These do stack and clip together nicely though.

Next week its back to the C18th stuff and finishing of painting sci-fi set A and finishing building set B, that is providing Mrs. P doesn't re-task me for real world stuff!!
