Rabennisten Victorious!!

The first thing to write about this week is the Ayton gaming weekend that I returned from on Monday.

It was a very enjoyable weekend with a very welcoming group of gamers. I was slightly apprehensive about going to such an established event as the 'new boy', or rather 'new old boy' but it turns out I needn't have been as they were a very inclusive bunch. The game itself took place over one long table (pictured below) with in theory two armies facing off, however in actuality the game broke down into numerous sub games.

The games rules were created by Mr. Burt and Tim Hall and worked well for this type of game, with myself and my opponent Mark (Peeler) able to pick them up quite quickly and rarely having to call for an umpire to explain something, meaning the game flowed well over the two days (the beer also flowed pretty well as well). The Rabennisten brigade lead my force of five brigades to a very conclusive victory over Mark - destroying three brigades for the loss of none. It has to be said some of the figures in play were absolutely gorgeous.

The game obviously triggered the release of too many endorphins as on my return I ordered six additional 18th century regiments to give me two more brigades (or battalions, I get it wrong every time).

And now numerous pictures from the game with no captions to explain what's being shown ;-)

Having returned from Ayton I did not think I would get much done this week loosing several days to real world events, however my luck was in as Mrs. P wanted a weekend at home to do gardening and so I slipped stealthily to the bunker...

First task completed was the painting of the Japanese temple ready for Junes Ronin game, and I think it turned out rather nice (although looking at the photo I'm having second thoughts lol).

The next task (mostly completed) was painting a monks faction for the same game - these now need basing and a final quality control check.

Finally I've been asked to play/run a game of Stargrave at the local club on Monday and so I spent some time painting up some scenery for the game - these are from the Games Workshop Kill Teams range (or the old range at least).

I then had to cobble together a crew to play with, some were painted this week, others had paint refreshed and a couple not touched at all. All probably need work on their bases and potentially if the game is to be played more often I may seek out fresh figures from the multitude of ranges that are out there.

And that is it, sadly no bonus Marvel figure this week (nuff said!)

Two more Battalions, sorry, Brigades? That's how we all started......'just one more Brigade won't hurt....I can stop any time I want!'

Very much looking forward to the Ronin game......I must read the rules.

Very nice painting of the weird stuff.

Ps and great pictures of the game. I forgot to congratulate you on not only beating Peeler, but surviving his usual antics.
