Ready for Ayton (Almost)

After several weeks of very limited time in the Bunker this week I've managed three straight days in there and, if I do say so myself, they've all been very productive.

The first project tackled was my third unit for my Ayton Colonial force - Gurkhas. These are from Wargames Foundry's North West Frontier range so technically historically later than the guidelines laid down by the game organisers, but as it's imagination I'm sure I'll get away with using them. These lent themselves to being painted with Contrast paints as the detail on them is quite pronounced and meant the whole unit was completed in just over three hours (not including some drying time between larger coats). Not sure the pictures will do them justice.

Then a reprieve from painting and another game of Stargrave with Tim T. My crew suffered more injuries from the local flora and fauna in this game than from the opposing team. I spent a little over £20 on Amazon to get a nice array of plastic aquarium plants and I personally feel they make for a passable alien swamp/jungle.

The next job was to clear the work-bench of Zombie survivor figures that I had made a start on, these were pretty much all painted using Contrast paints and I didn't shy away from using bright colours.

Which brings us to today.

The final unit for Ayton - the Duke of Rabbennistens Hunting Party. Again these are from Foundry but this time from their Congo Range, and again these are nice and easy to paint.

And for full disclosure alongside all of the above a few creatures for Stargrave were painted.

I think my next job will be to varnish all of these figures and then get to work on the Ayton figures bases - the Zombie related figures will be left with their plain grey bases.

Now time for a lay down - bye!!
