Rebel Experiment

Not a lot to report this week after a productive time last week - busy writing the quiz for the local pubs quiz night and then stupidly doing a volunteer cafe/bar shift in the middle of the week.

What I did do, but took absolutely no pictures of, was have a rather splendid days gaming last Saturday hosted by Gary Philips using his gorgeous figure collection and played with/against some rather descent chaps.

I have started to assemble some plastic Perry ACW figures, and have ordered a few bits to supplement the pile of sprues I have. Annoyingly I ordered a Zouave command pack, only to find buried at the bottom of the sprues the next day a plastic sprue of Zouave command figures - doh!!

Today I experimented with different colours and paint types to create my first Confederate section, and here's out they turned out....(as always, please excuse my inability to take a decent picture)

I will spend a little more time applying some finishing touches - primarily filling gaps where the paint did not take.

I'd like to invite my viewers who are more knowledgeable of the period and painting to give feedback on whether it is worth finishing the whole unit (another 16 figures) in this way and will it look like a Confederate unit on the table?

I await your comments....

They look splendid, Pemps, and very conventionally Rebbish.

In recent times it has been questioned whether the CSA troops were as hard up for proper uniform as has been generally accepted. So you could have more greys and grey browns, but they won't look so pretty - where's teh fun in that!

Thanks Mr. B - I do recall you mentioning a while ago about the Confederacy being better equipped than they are often portrayed.
