A bit of a gap since my last blog entry which is all due to Birthday celebrations, visiting friends and family in Harlow and receiving a visit from the inimitable Mr. Burt. It's so hard having a social life (my liver would strongly agree)!
Anyhow down to the geeky stuff....
As part of the preparation for the primary game to be played on Mr. B's visit I decided to get and paint some Japanese civilians, these would either be used in scenarios or as markers/tokens. Ultimately they were used as posh turn counters - a row of them on the side of the table equal to the games turn limit and one removed at the start of each turn.
The figures are from Perry Miniatures and I found them quite pleasant to paint - possibly because I could use a simple colour scheme and the contrast paints worked well on them.
There was an epic fail on my part to capture pictures of the numerous games we played over the course of Mr. B's visit - here are the only ones worth sharing of the several actually taken.
The above is the quiet little village centre prior to the carnage starting - I think I need to get some road/path pieces in future to break up the green.
This is Iain's attempt to run off with the royal princess (blur at top of picture) whilst leaving his men to be cut down by the Sohei Buntai - and cut down they were!!
What there are no pictures off is our failed rescue of Newt in the Aliens - Another Glorious Day in the Corps game, and a Wings of War WW1 aerial game that Iain actually won!!!
Now that the main scheduled game is over I've got to decide on what to work on next - there are quite a few bits to do have but none with a defined end date.
One of those bits are some Marvel figures my children kindly got me for my birthday - these have already been assembled and undercoated.
So you can expect to see the return of the bonus Marvel figure at the end of upcoming posts.
Talking of which - here is another finished Marvel figure - Blackbolt. I must admit it's not the best of the bunch despite several attempts to get it looking better.
Until next time!!
A splendid couple of days gaming, Mr P. Thank you for being such a splendid host.
My plan to run off with the prize was a good one.......if only I'd taken into account that you had a different plan!
The image of my Samurai leader being drilled into the ground by a single blow from your chap will stay with me for some time.
The Aliens were terrifying. My first game of Wings of War was a delightful surprise. What a good game.
