Toppled Tavern.

Another short week and thus an early post due to the real world making demands on my time (how very dare it).

A slightly random week with no real focus on what to do so I've jumped from thing to thing, but have actually got things completed(ish).

The biggest project this week turned out to be the assembly and painting of the Toppled Tavern, part of the Savage Domain section of the Fantasy Realms range by TTCombat. Mrs. P had bought me pretty much all of the Savage Domains items for Christmas so I thought I'd best make a start on them and what a 'beast' the first one turned out to be.

The kit itself went together well and is a solid item once complete. The only gripes I do have (not huge ones) are that you have to go to the TTCombat website to get the building instructions (and there're 92 pages of them), something I've noticed a number of companies doing of late and also you have to identify pieces by sight i.e. none are numbered and seem to randomly scattered amongst the mdf sheets, this certainly added to the construction time especially in the early stages. The tiled roof took a good couple of hours to put together, but I think the end result looks good and probably does not need painting.

I've painted a fair chunk of the building now, just need to decide what to do with the inside and then add some wear an tear. Much of the painting was done using Citadel Contrast paints, which as I've said before is not the cheapest medium to use, but its consistency does lend itself to painting MDF.

To give you a feel for the size of this building here it is with a couple of 1/48th scale figures in front of it.

And that leads me nicely into the next almost finished thing from this week, 1/48th infantry from the 1:48 Tactics range.

Firstly four American 101st Airborne figures....

And then my first attempt at a member of the German 26th Volksgrenadier....

They all came out reasonably well, the only thing I am finding in painting these figures is the detail is not always very clear given the scale of them. Their bases are due some attention but this may have to wait until I've painted the rest of zee Germans.

And finally this weeks Marvel figure: I present to you Juggernaut!!

Hopefully a more productive and focused week next week, then again, maybe not.

Have a better one!!
