Union Experiment

Not a huge amount achieved this week and the Bunker has now shut for Easter (well a week away in the Peak District, so not moaning).

I started to watch the film 'Glory' earlier this week to get some inspiration for the painting of my ACW figures. Whilst watching I noticed that the uniform trousers of the Union were nearer to a grey in colour than the light blue they were in my mind. So with this in mind I painted up a Union Skirmish group using Space Wolf Grey contrast paint as the trouser colour, also experimented with a slightly darker blue than I had used on the Zouaves and here (in now obligatory poor quality photography) is how they turned out..

I'll try this again on my next line infantry formation, but using a slightly darker undercoat (these were done with a white base).

I also tried a different method of painting a Confederate soldier, not sure I'll use the process again as the figure came out a little dark for my liking.

Not shown in todays blog is a second completed group of Zouaves (they look just like the last lot I painted strangely enough), and several assembled bits - these will appear in the blog once completed.

One job I achieved this week was the sealing of the numerous MDF fantasy buildings I had built through winter. Previously I used a brush on sealant but for this bunch I tried a spray version - which made the job so much easier although it has to be done outside as boy does this stuff stink. What occurred to me once I completed this task was just how many buildings I'm going to have to paint...

And finally, it has been a while but here is a completed Marvel figure (well, 95% complete - need to tidy the base)!!
