A slow few weeks on the hobby front sadly, however that is not to say things have not been happening in the Bunker.
With the weather becoming colder I invested some time and money on winterproofing (to a degree) the Bunker. I've double glazed the windows, sealing a couple of them permanently shut and hopefully now fully water and wind proof, installed an electric wall heater, added a door between the gaming area and the bar (yes the Bunker has a bar section) and installing a further heater in the bar. As part of this operation I gave the gaming and modelling area a good clean down and tidy up, so it's now a lot nicer place to work.
Doing all of the above did cost me over a weeks hobby time (well all of the above and the various tasks I'm contractually obliged to do to support the main house and Mrs. P) and so not a great amount achieved on that front.
That's not to say nothing progressed, although that said nothing I was previously working on (Aliens/Japanese Skirmish) has progressed as I've once again gone of at a tangent.
Firstly having noticed that the Wild West building range from TTC is changing I picked up a couple of 'last chance to buy' pieces to add to my existing collection, a blacksmiths and a gun store. These are now assembled and in the process of being painted, here they are so far....
Keeping with the Wild West theme I ordered a couple of boxes of plastic multi-part gunfighters from Great Escape Games and put a few together just to add some newer figures to my Wild West selection. I'm happy with a few of the figures I've assembled but did find I could not always create the figure I wanted as not all parts work with other e.g. I wanted a long coated figure to be carrying away saddlebags of loot, but the arm did not sit well on the flowing coated body. These are now on the paint pending pile as I've moved onto something else entirely.
And this is what I've moved onto...
I started assembling a small Japanese Bolt Action force a few years ago, but my intended opponent ultimately decided not to proceed with his force (the bounder) and so the figures have been on the pending pile ever since. I've discovered that Bolt Action is played at the local club and in fact a game opportunity has arisen for next month and so I've decided to push these to the front of the paint queue as I now know that it won't be a waste of effort completing them - whether I'll have a painted force ready for the game next month is a different matter.
The figures above are not fully completed (honest) but these have helped me determine how to proceed in painting the rest and given me confidence that I can turn out an infantry section in a day. With the weather becoming slightly milder I'll be putting that to the test from tomorrow.....
